Communicate, No Matter What

What if you purchased a companies product or service and never heard back from them again?

Oh, you say that happens all the time. In fact, it’s pretty much the norm in business.

What’s the result? All that happens is you simply forget about them completely within days; a month at best.

What if that same company wanted to remain in your top-of-mind awareness? What one thing would they have to do?

Simply put, they would have to communicate consistently, keep in touch, show you that they care about you and your results and not just the small amount of money made from a one time sale.

No matter how good a product or service is, you’ll forget if not reminded.

Think back. Whenever a business showed you they cared about your outcome and your results, both now and in the future, you very likely continued doing business with them.

No matter what kind of business you have, consistent communication that shows you care about a client’s outcome will increase top line revenue.

The next question is, “What do I talk about?” Here’s a communication plan to get you started.

1. One week after a sale is made; call the client to see how your product is performing.

2. One month later, call again to make sure the product is still performing to their highest expectation.

3. Send educational articles or other relevant news of interest that lets your client know you are on top of the latest trends.

4. Write something on your own and send it. Become the “expert” your client hopes you are. I created a program just for this type of communication called Edutising ™
or educate to advertise. It is very effective.

5. Pick up the telephone a couple times a year and see how things are going.

6. Share the successes of other clients. Sending a Case Study that outlines the results of a successful client works exceptionally well.

7. Drop a greeting card at odd occasions. Not the usual Holiday time only, but maybe a 4th of July card. Surprise them.

8. Have a client luncheon or dinner. Gather your best clients and introduce them to one another. New business for them and for you can be the result of this type of gathering. It is always appreciated.

9. Send a regularly scheduled email newsletter. If you send it out one time a week
you have touched your clients at least 50 times per year with relevant information.

Do it with an auto responder and you have automated the process and made it a breeze.

10. Use your imagination. These are basic ideas, but there are plenty more.

Stay in contact with your clients consistently and in a relevant way by asking
yourself this simple question, “How can I show my clients I care.”
