Does Sales Frighten You
Fear is such a strong emotion that it will keep even the
bravest person from doing important things that influences
their life.
Sales is an area that brings up fear often. Many small
business owners have conjured up ideas that turn them away
from direct selling. As a result, profits suffer.
If sales is the lifeblood of any business, everyone in
business needs to find a way to cope with it successfully.
Here’s the best way to combat the fear of sales.
As I pointed out in my article
Selling for People who Dislike Sales, there are
3-primary reasons for sales hate.
1. You have no system to follow. You are forced to
wing it every day. This leads to overwhelm and confusion.
2. You have not found (or you lost) the passion,
value and monetary worth other people find in your work. You
are hesitant to tell more people about your offer out of
fear.
3. You do not have a well-defined, well-articulated
offer to sell. This leads to both confusion and fear. You
are confused about what to say and fearful the person you
are speaking to will reject you.
Let’s face it, direct sales can be intimidating. The best
way to break a sales block stranglehold is to realize or
revitalize passion for your business.
Passion is the key that breaks down fear-based barriers.
The best way to reignite passion for your business is to go
on a mission. No matter what you do, you can be on a mission
to improve other people’s lives in some way.
For example:
I see small business as the
future of the
American economy. I am passionate about helping people
break down barriers that keep them from succeeding in a
small or micro business they created.
Jeremy Tuber has become the defender of freelance graphic
designers with his book and program called
Being a Starving Artist Sucks. Jeremy is on a
mission to help struggling graphic designers succeed in
business.
Celebrity Hairstylist Johnny G helps his client’s
increase self-confidence by making them look and feel like a
star. He accomplishes that lofty mission by creating beauty
from the inside out.
All of these businesses create sales based on their passion
to help others.
If you struggle with sales, get in touch with the real
reason you started your business in the first place.
The question to ask is, “What is my greatest passion in
business.” Then look deep inside to uncover the value
you created that helps other people.
From there, all you have to do is simply go on a mission.
Reach out with your passion. Offer the value you've created
to people who need it the most.
You are then on the road to turning sales fear into sales
mastery by caring enough to change the life of someone else.
